The Christopher Columbus School, a state-of-the-art 21st-century educational facility, has been constructed on the historical site of its predecessor in Trenton, established in 1894. This new building serves not only as an educational institution for grades Pre-Kindergarten through 8 but also as a community hub, offering easy access through public transportation, cycling, and walking. Its facilities include a gymnasium, a multi-purpose room, and advanced media and distance learning centers.

Employing the latest in energy-efficient technologies and materials, the construction process prioritized sustainable practices. This approach extends to the demolition of the old building, where efforts were made to maximize the use of recycled content and ensure environmentally responsible disposal of materials. The project has successfully secured rebates for the owner through the New Jersey Smart Start Program, underscoring its commitment to sustainability.

The school's design has earned it necessary LEED points as dictated by the New Jersey School Development Authority, scoring in categories such as Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation & Design.
