The existing K-6 elementary school was significantly overcrowded and in need of expansion. The new additions nearly doubled the size of the school. Due to planned enrollment growth over the next several years, the school was designed with the ability to easily add a second floor with six additional classrooms. New spaces include General classrooms (18), 6th grade science lab and prep room, media center, art room, music room, stage expansion, teacher’s work room, small group rooms (3 new and 1 renovated), technology lab, cafeteria, faculty dining, kitchen, service areas, child study team offices. Renovated spaces include Pre-K/Kindergarten classroom (1), kindergarten classrooms (2), special education (), first grade classrooms (2), main office suite, secure vestibule, nurse’s suite, business office, multi-purpose room, athletic office and storage. The project consisted of two additions, renovations to about 80% of the existing building and site improvements including parking lot, hard surface play area and ball fields. New gas and electric services were installed. Mechanical system included new low temperature boilers, heat pumps and cooling tower.
