FVHD Discusses Facilities Considerations for School Reopening with RestartED

George R. Duthie, AIA and William "Ted" D. Hopkins III, AIA joined a group of experts at the RestartEd Virtual Town Hall last week to discuss facilities considerations for school reopening. RestartED is a grassroots movement that brings together education stakeholders across the country to crowdsource solutions for safely reopening and operating schools in a COVID/post-COVID world.

The discussion was moderated by Dr. Scott Rocco, Superintendent, Hamilton Township School District. The expert panel was comprised of school facility directors, Ann Degnan, Facilities Manager Long Branch Public Schools, Adam Nasr, Director of Facilities, Matawan Aberdeen Regional School District, and FVHD Architects-Planners, George R. Duthie, AIA and William "Ted" D. Hopkins III, AIA joined the panel as the expert Architects. The group discussed a few creative concepts and ideas they have been positioned to develop based on the uniqueness of not only each school district but individual schools within those districts. In the discussion, the panel touched on topics such as the structure of the classroom, airflow concepts, cleaning high touch areas, isolation rooms, and much more.
