John J. Veisz, AIA to Retire as President and Principal of FVHD Architects-Planners; George R. Duthie, Jr., AIA Named as President (Effective January 1, 2021)

TRENTON, NJ, December 17, 2021 — Fraytak Veisz Hopkins Duthie, P.C. (FVHD Architects-Planners) has announced today that John J. Veisz, AIA, CSBA, IIBEC will retire as President and Principal of the Firm. His retirement takes effect on December 31, 2020 and George R. Duthie, Jr. AIA, PP will assume the role of President and William D. “Ted” Hopkins III, AIA, LEED AP, the role of Vice President.

Mr. Veisz’ history with the Firm extends more than thirty years. He became a Principal in 1999 and President of the Firm in 2011. Mr. Duthie has been with the Firm for over thirty years and Mr. Hopkins for over twenty-seven years, both became a Principal of FVHD in 2010.

“It is with both sadness and joy that we announce the retirement of our valued partner and friend [Principal-President of FVHD John J. Veisz, AIA, CSBA, IIBEC],” said Mr. Duthie. “It is difficult, if not impossible, to sum up John’s achievements over his many years of dedicated service to our Firm and the impact he has made on all of us both personally and professionally. He will be greatly missed by everyone here but will move on to enjoy his well-deserved retirement.” 

Starting as an intern in 1978, “It has been an absolute pleasure working at the Firm over the past four decades and an honor ushering FVHD through our Centennial Anniversary as President!” said Mr. Veisz. “I have worked with so many dedicated and talented colleagues during my time here. I am grateful for the opportunity to have engaged with and provided professional services to so many important clients in the public sector over the years.” 

Mr. Veisz continued, “As FVHD continues forward into the 103rd year, I am confident [FVHD] partners George Duthie and Ted Hopkins will continue to be exceptional leaders and proceed with the same high-quality and dedicated service for which we are known and upon which our reputation is built.” Mr. Veisz adds, “As we work through this transition in the new year, I will continue to be accessible to the team to provide valuable institutional knowledge on our client projects.” 

FVHD Principal, William D. “Ted” Hopkins III, AIA, LEED AP, closes with, “It’s never easy to bid farewell to a colleague. On behalf of all of us here at FVHD, we would like to extend to John our best wishes for a long and healthy retirement!”
