This 1920’s vintage, three-story elementary school building was completely renovated to serve the school district’s disabled pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. The renovation of this building for use as an early childhood center freed up much needed space in the district’s elementary schools. Renovations included 3 pre-kindergarten disabled, 9 kindergarten, transitional kindergarten, autistic, art, general, OT/PT, 2 small group instruction, speech, and multi-purpose rooms, as well as nurse, child study team, principal and main offices. This project also consisted of the complete removal of older building elements and systems and replacement with new. The building was outfitted with new windows, mechanical, electrical and technology/ communications systems. A complete masonry restoration was also performed to preserve the character of the building. A new central core was constructed in the middle of the building to house an elevator, central technology room, small group instruction and storage areas.
