Highland Park Library

Highland Park, New Jersey

The 5,777 SF addition and the 7,000 SF renovation included the addition of a program room, the expansion of the Children's Library, the quiet study areas, and a general increase in the area allotted for seating and shelving. FVHD held extensive meetings with the community to incorporate their ideas and wishes into the design. The result is a library that has been designed to serve their cultural needs. Beyond the lobby is a gallery wall for local artists to display their work. Each area is designed with unique appeal for individual user groups. The Adult Services Section reflects the progressive utilization of a linear library. The Children's Area is intended to be a fun, dynamic place with an over-sized window and built in children's seating. The Program Room will permit the staff to hold a greater number and variety of cultural enrichment programs including foreign film festivals, arts and crafts classes and story telling series. Interior alterations included improved work space for staff, as well as full spectrum lighting throughout the building.
